Moses holding the Tablets of the Law, painting by Rembrandt

Hermes work completed, Moses upgrade planned

The work on the Hermes mail server has been completed. The server is now up to date and aligned with the new all2all mail stack: a current system base, a more robust configuration, and a stronger focus on security and long-term maintainability.

During the operation, mail storage was moved to very fast SSD disks. This improves server responsiveness and helps prepare the infrastructure to keep serving mailboxes reliably over time.

This intervention is part of a broader modernisation of our mail infrastructure. The next step will be Moses, our primary mail server. The objective is an OS, security and service-architecture upgrade, progressively aligned with the same modernised mail stack.

This work on Moses is planned for the coming days. We will communicate the practical details if a maintenance window with user impact needs to be confirmed.

Debian 11 LTS is nearing the end of its support period: Debian announced that LTS support ends on 31 August 2026 and recommends upgrading to Debian 12 and then Debian 13. See the official announcement: Debian announce.
